How to go from "gap" to "gain"...

Welcome back to The Agency CEO (by me, Jesse Gilmore at Niche in Control).

Every Thursday, I send you a quick 10-minute read on the tools, tactics, and systems that the top 1% of agency owners have used to scale their businesses to 8-figures and beyond.

This week, we’re discussing the “gap and gain” concept — two distinct ways of thinking that will impact your success as an agency owner.

Let’s dive in 👇

"You can change your perception. You can change your mindset. You can listen to the thoughts in your head and decide to not follow them. You can consciously choose the life that you want to live. But you must be willing to change and get uncomfortable in the process."

Gap and Gain: The Power of Perspective

There are two types of agency owners:

  • Those with a scarcity mindset (gap)

  • Those with an abundance mindset (gain)

With any mindset, there’s the “current” self, the “future” self, and the “becoming” self. And as you evolve, you’re letting go of the old version to embrace something new. Something better.

You have a choice to make today.

You’ll either look at where you are today and compare yourself to where you want to be in the future. This is the gap.

Or

You’ll look at where you are today, realize how much you’ve accomplished, and take pride in your progress. This is the gain.

Everything in your life — from your work to your relationships — becomes much more enjoyable with the gain mindset.

When you're in the gain, you have more of an abundance-welcoming, open mindset. But when you focus on the gap between where you are and where you want to be, there's always going to be a gap. ALWAYS.

Fortunately, there are a few simple ways to transition from “gap to gain.”

  1. Regular reflections: Schedule weekly or monthly review sessions to assess your progress, correct course where needed, and celebrate every achievement. One great way to get in this habit is by “planning tomorrow, today.” At the end of every work day, make a note of what you accomplished that day, and what you plan to accomplish tomorrow. Then, at the end of the week, take the time to review the full list.

  2. Set short-term goals: Break long-term objectives into achievable weekly/monthly goals to maintain momentum and clarity.

  3. Visualize success: Visualize progress toward goals to maintain awareness and cultivate a positive growth mindset.

ACTION ITEM: When you close this email, put some time on your calendar at the end of every work day this week to “plan tomorrow, today”. Commit to a full seven days of this practice, and then review all that you accomplished at the end of the week. A sense of progress is key to building a ‘gain’ mindset. Give it a shot, and send me an email (by replying to the newsletter) with how it went!

Changing your perspective from gap to gain will enhance your agency's operations, foster a more optimistic view of the future, and enhance personal satisfaction.
